Emberwild

Changelog

What's new

Every version of Emberwild, newest first: what changed, in plain words.

  1. 0.30.15

    The map is back

    Latest

A fix for the installed game.

    • Fixed in the installed game: the world map was empty, ferries skipped the crossing, waystones listed nowhere to go, and the journal couldn't point to quest places. All of these work again.
  2. 0.30.14

    Mistveil Isle

A new island for levels 52 to 62, and a better map to find it on.

    • Mistveil Isle: take the ferry from Port Varrow's west pier to a fog-wrapped island of giant beetles, mantises and moths. Clear the Fogbound Shore, the Orchid Grove and the Temple Steps for Seeker Veyla, then face Oraveth, the Veiled Oracle, in her sanctum. Mistjaw rules the grove, and on foggy nights the Pale Mantis walks.
    • Ferries show the crossing: the map fills the screen and your boat sails across while the island loads. Click to skip.
    • The world map zooms: scroll or pinch to zoom, drag to move. Crowded places were spread out, level ranges show when you point at a place, and islands sit in open sea.
    • Show on map on every quest card opens the map at where to go next. Proving Pit quests say where to fight, and the map's hunt list shows one line per quest.
    • Abilities: ones that use your weapon's range now reach as far as your normal attacks. The ability bar says why one can't fire (no target, too far, no mana…) instead of just doing nothing.
    • Balance: a level-26 Knight in plate no longer farms six much stronger monsters for free, so the three vocations level at a similar pace again.
    • Fixed signs and exit labels by the sea showing under the water.
  3. 0.30.13

    The journal shows the way

Never wonder where to go next.

    • Every quest step you haven't finished says where to go: the places a monster lives (and whether it only comes out at night, by day or in the rain), which monsters drop an item you need to bring, and where you can gather it. The place you're in is listed first.
    • A finished board task tells you where the nearest taskmaster is, with a Find button if one is close.
    • The Planning a hunt guide has screenshots and a worked example trip.
  4. 0.30.12

    Highmoor and Brookhollow come alive

    • Highmoor has a yard by the Proving Pit, corners for each trial master, a moor patrol post and a tor to climb, plus a new treasure trail.
    • Brookhollow feels lived in: a hedged field at the village edge, a wayside shrine and the Easy Shrine treasure trail.
    • Fixed elite monsters rolling different traits from the same seed.
  5. 0.30.11

    The Ironvein camp

    • A prospectors' camp at the mouth of the Deep Mines, with Prospector Hesk, two new quests and a treasure trail dig.
    • Fixed a rare freeze when arriving somewhere while the world map was still being drawn.
  6. 0.30.10

    Cinderwatch

    • Cinderwatch (levels 42–50): Emberwatch's camp off the Cinder Keep's watch road, with the Citadel's monsters out in the open. It opens once you've finished the story's tenth chapter.
  7. 0.30.9

    Saltmere, a working harbour

    • Saltmere has a fish market, a cargo dock, a boatyard, a lighthouse and a wreck to explore.
    • Gull Rock Cove and a new treasure trail along the coast.
  8. 0.30.8

    Hunt markers and faster respawns

    • Monsters your quests, board task, bounty or Slayer task need wear a gold !, get a ring on the minimap, and show as badges on the world map.
    • Bosses and rares are stars on the minimap; world-event monsters are ringed.
    • Small groups and cleared groups come back faster, and nothing respawns right on top of you.
  9. 0.30.7

    Furniture fixes

    • Furniture can be placed straight from your bag and stands properly on the floor.
  10. 0.30.6

    The Riftwastes

    • The Riftwastes (levels 60–70) and the two-floor Unmade Spire, home of Vaelith (level 75), the hardest fight in the game.
    • A new top gear tier: Voidsteel, Riftleather and Nullweave.
    • Furnish your house; pick weapon looks in the Wardrobe.
    • New weapons: flails, spears, scythes, war picks and thrown weapons.
    • The Wizard's mana comes back faster as they level.
  11. 0.30.5

    • House deeds, pets, cures and buffs tell you what they did.

    Bank tabs and treasures

    • The bank has tabs.
    • Daggers, maces and 19 treasures to find.
    • Left-click eats and drinks again, every food works on the quick bar, and typing no longer walks your character.

    Every item its own icon

    • Every item has its own icon, mostly hand-drawn 2D art.
    • Clicking in the bank no longer walks you away from it.
  14. 0.30.2

    Monsters fight differently

    • Casters and archers act like it: breath attacks and thrown rocks from afar, casters step back, and you can see what they throw.
    • A tool belt, so pickaxes and rods don't take bag space.
    • Right-click items in your bag to drop them; loot piles glow.
