Offer — Odo, Keeper of the Shrine: “A shard of the Ember. In my lifetime. The dead in my ruins feel it too; they've been restless all week. Quiet them while I find the right book.”
While you work — “The ruins are north of the village, behind the shrine.”
On hand-in — “Here it is. The world once had a heart: an ember burning beneath the mountains of fire. When it cracked, its shards sank into the earth and the sea, and wherever a shard lay, something old fell asleep beside it, kept warm. Now the Heart is failing. The shards are waking, and so are they.”
