The Ashen Citadel

The Emberwraith's fortress, east of the Cinder Keep, for levels 42–52. The last of the Waking's fire, and the Ashen Regent on his throne.

The Outer Ward

Getting in

The black gate on the east side of the Cinder Keep's forge halls leads to the Citadel. It opens once you've stilled the Ember Heart: chapter 10 of The Waking.

If you fall in the Citadel, you wake at the Cinder Keep's gate.

The Outer Ward (levels 42–48)

The Citadel's walled courtyards, under an ash-red sky.

The keep doors are in the north-east corner.

The Throne of Ash (levels 44–52)

  • Magma Brute: slow, huge, and it slams the ground.
  • Citadel Drake: a lesser cousin of Ashwing.
  • More knights and priests.

The Ashen Regent (level 50)

The Ashen Regent is the hardest fight in Emberwild. He hits through armour, slams everything within two tiles, and below 40% health he attacks much faster.

He always drops the Regent's Seal, and can drop one of four legendaries: Regent's Edge, the Ashfall Longbow, the Cinderheart Staff or the Ashen Bulwark.

Gear

The Citadel's monsters drop Ashsteel, Emberhide and Cinderweave gear (level 42): weapons, body armour and helmets for each vocation.

Quests

Sister Ashra at the Cinder Keep's gate has three: The Outer Ward, Kennel Fires and The Ashen Regent.

Tips

  • Bring antidotes for the priests' burns.
  • After the Regent falls, light the Heroic Sigil by the west gate. See Heroic dungeons.
