The map
Press M for a painted map of the whole Emberwild, or the place you're standing in, in full.
The map window has two tabs. The minimap in the corner opens it too: click its toolbar button, or press M.
World
A painted map of the Emberwild: the land coloured by what's there (green meadows, dark forest, glowing lava fields, snowy passes, desert dunes), the sea around it and every place joined by the ways between them. You can see the same map on the World page.
- Pins show what kind of place it is: a town (walls), a hunting ground (crossed swords) or a dungeon (an arch). A red skull badge means a boss lives there, and a gold ! badge means something your quests, task, bounty or Slayer task need lives there (see Planning a hunt).
- Level ranges show under a place's name when you point at it, for the place you've picked and where you are, and for every place once you zoom in. They're coloured for your level: grey is easy, green is right for you, gold is a stretch and red is dangerous.
- Zoom: scroll (or pinch on a trackpad) to zoom in, and drag to move round. Places spread apart as you zoom, so crowded corners become easy to read. The − and + buttons under the map do the same.
- Trails are gold dashes, tunnels are violet dots, and ferries (to Gullwrack Isle and to Mistveil Isle) are dotted lines over the sea with a boat on them. The whirlpool off Gullwrack is where the Sunken City lies.
- You are here: the gold ring that pulses. Places you haven't been yet are dimmed.
- Click a place for its levels, what's inside it, its boss, what you can hunt there for your quests, and the way there from where you stand. The route lights up in gold. Then use the waystones to get there faster.
- From the journal: every quest card has a Show on map button that opens the map at the place the quest sends you next.
When you take a ferry, the map fills the screen for a few seconds and your boat sails across it while the island loads. Click to skip.
This region
The whole place you're in, drawn from above with north at the top: open ground, trees and walls (with soft shadows), water with foam at the shore, the paved town square and glowing round exits. Markers show you, people, townsfolk, exits, gathering spots, loot and monsters. Bosses and named rares are red stars, monsters you're hunting for a quest have a gold ring, and world-event monsters have an orange ring. Click to walk there. The same maps are on every region's wiki page, for example Brookhollow.
The minimap
The round map in the corner turns with your camera, so up is always the way you're facing. Scroll to zoom; click to walk.
