Slayer tasks
Take a task, hunt it down, get paid in points, and learn to fight what nobody else can.
Slayer is a skill you train by killing what a Slayer Master tells you to. Every page of numbers is on the Slayer page.
Getting a task
Talk to Mordrek, inside the west wall of Highmoor, and choose Get a Slayer task. You're sent after 20–45 of one monster close to your combat level (never a boss, a named rare or a night or rain spawn). The task and your progress show in the chat log as you go.
- Every kill on task gives Slayer XP, more for monsters with more HP.
- Finishing pays 10 Slayer Points, and every tenth task in a row pays 50.
- Too much for you? Skip it for 30 points, but your streak starts again.
Spending points
Mordrek trades points for:
- the Black Mask (120) and Slayer Helm (600): more damage against your task monster;
- the Slayer Ring (300) and Slayer Cape (400);
- hard clue scrolls and supreme health potions.
The "damage against your Slayer task" bonus only works on the monster you're assigned. Wear the mask on task, swap it off afterwards.
Monsters only a Slayer can fight
Some monsters can't be hurt until your Slayer level is high enough. They come up on tasks more often once you can:
| Monster | Slayer level | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Gloom Crawler | 10 | The Deep Mines |
| Barrow Horror | 35 | The Barrow, second floor |
| Abyssal Lurker | 60 | The Palace of Tides |
| Storm Fiend | 80 | The Shattered Peaks |
Each drops a rare unique: the Gloomstone Ring, Horror's Grasp, the fast-hitting Abyssal Lash and the Fiendcaller Orb.
