Gems and sockets
Set a gem into your gear for a bonus that lasts as long as it stays in.
Which gear has sockets
- Fine and Rare gear: 1 socket.
- Epic and Legendary gear: 2 sockets.
- Normal gear has none.
Item tooltips show ◇ for an empty socket and ◆ for each gem in it.
Setting a gem
- Go to a jeweller's bench: one in Saltmere and one in Highmoor.
- Have the gear in your bag (take it off first) and the gem with you.
- Choose the piece of gear, then click a gem.
Taking a gem back out costs 150 GP, and the gem goes back in your bag.
What each gem does
| Gem | In a socket |
|---|---|
| Sapphire | +3% max HP |
| Obsidian Shard | +4% of damage taken hurts the attacker |
| Void Shard | +3% chance to strike twice |
| Emerald | +2% of damage dealt heals you |
| Pearl | +3% XP |
| Ruby | +3% damage |
| Void Pearl | +3% rare find chance |
| Diamond | +3 defence |
The full table, with sell prices, is on the gems page.
Good to know
- Socketed gear keeps its gems in the bank, in trades and when you equip it.
- It sells for half the gems' value more than the plain piece.
- Gear sets still count socketed pieces.
- Rift chests sometimes hold gear with a gem already set.
