Cinderwatch

Emberwatch's camp on the Ashen lands, east of the Cinder Keep: three hunting grounds for levels 42–50.

Map of Cinderwatch

Since the Ember Heart went still, Emberwatch keeps a camp out on the ash to watch the Ashen Citadel. Cinderwatch fills the gap between Kingsreach and the Shattered Peaks.

Getting there

From the Cinder Keep's forge halls, follow the watch road east, just below the Ashen gate. The road opens once you've stilled the Ember Heart, in chapter 10 of The Waking. If you fall out here, you wake in the camp.

The camp

A palisade with a waystone, a forge, a fire and a strongbox (your bank).

Where to hunt

Area Levels Monsters
The Ashfall Shelf 42–46 Ash knights, cinder hounds around a burned-out patrol post
The Cinder Trenches 44–48 Ashen archers and flame priests behind rows of broken earthworks
The Blackglass Fields 46–50 Magma brutes and citadel drakes among lava cracks and black glass

These are the Ashen Citadel's own monsters, out in the open, so you can hunt them without fighting your way through the Citadel. Cinder ore, embervine, obsidian and mithril grow out here too.

Quests, tasks and the diary

  • Corvin's chain is Ash on the Wind, Old Records and Glass and Fire. The second one sends you back to ask Sister Ashra what the old keepers wrote.
  • The board adds culling tasks for ashen archers and flame priests.
  • The Cinderwatch diary gives cheaper waystone travel here, then +3% and +5% XP in the region.
  • A hard treasure trail ends at the foot of the burned tower in the Blackglass Fields.
