Treasure trails

Riddles, digging and a casket of loot at the end.

Any monster can drop a clue scroll:

  • Monsters below level 10 drop easy scrolls.
  • Monsters below level 20 drop medium scrolls.
  • Monsters from level 20 drop hard scrolls.

Elites drop them six times as often and bosses far more. When one drops, the rare-drop banner tells you.

Following a trail

  1. Read the scroll (right-click it and choose Read). A random trail of that tier starts. You can only follow one trail at a time.
  2. Open your journal (J). The current riddle is at the top, with how many clues are left.
  3. Solve each clue. There are four kinds:
    • Dig: walk to the place the riddle describes, stand still on it for a moment, and you dig the next clue up.
    • Talk: speak to the person the riddle points at.
    • Defeat: kill the creatures it names. Your journal counts them.
    • By night: be in a place after dark.
  4. The last clue leaves a casket at your feet. Open it like any loot sack.

What caskets hold

Caskets hold coins, rune bundles, potions and gems, plus trail-only gear: the Gilded Helm, Lucky Ring, Wayfarer's Boots, Trailblazer Bow, Stargazer Staff and Star Compass. Hard trails also grant a mastery point.

Redbeard's Map

Captain Redbeard always drops his map. It starts his own trail across Rogue's Ridge, and at its end waits his hoard, with the Captain's Tricorn.

Every trail and its answers are on the Treasure trails page. Look only if you are stuck!
